Clove
Whole clove tea has an intense, warm spice flavor with a slightly sweet, lingering bite. The dried buds are small, dark reddish-brown, with a tiny cap and stem. Simmer a few whole cloves gently in water at 205 °F (96 °C) for 10 to 20 minutes, since the tough buds need real heat to release their oil. Clove pairs well with cinnamon, orange peel, and fresh ginger in a spiced blend. Whole cloves are one of the spices in many chai and mulled-drink blends served around the world.
